Confined Space Medicals
All confined space medicals are conducted face-to-face by Dr Maarten Van Kets, an occupational physician with over 15 years in high-risk environments. Every exam is performed personally at our London Bridge (SE1 2PR) or Orpington (BR6 0FE) clinics — or on-site for 7+ workers.
On-site visits: Dr Van Kets comes to your workplace for groups of 7+.
Why Are Confined Space Medicals Necessary?
Ensures workers can self-rescue in low-oxygen or toxic environments. Required under Confined Spaces Regulations 1997.
What Do They Include?
- Respiratory assessment (spirometry)
- Cardiovascular fitness
- Mobility and claustrophobia screening
- Fitness certificate

- Workers entering: Tanks, silos, tunnels, rescue teams
- Frequency: Risk-based (typically 2–3 years; annual for high-risk roles or per site assessment)
