Fit to Work Medicals
All Fit to Work medicals are conducted face-to-face by Dr Maarten Van Kets, an HSE-appointed doctor with over 15 years in occupational medicine. Every exam is performed personally at our London Bridge (SE1 2PR) or Orpington (BR6 0FE) clinics — or on-site for 7+ workers.
On-site visits: Dr Van Kets comes to your workplace for groups of 7+.
Why Are Fit to Work Medicals Necessary?
Safety-critical roles carry a high risk of sudden incapacity (e.g. collapse, seizure). This medical prevents harm to the worker and others. Often required by NFDC, demolition contractors, and plant operators.
What Do They Include?
- Cardiovascular assessment (BP, ECG if indicated)
- Neurological screening (balance, reflexes)
- Musculoskeletal exam (mobility, strength)
- Fitness certificate
Who Needs It & How Often?
- Safety-critical workers: Crane operators, MEWP users, demolition staff
- Frequency: Every 1–3 years (risk-based)
- Can be combined with asbestos medical
